S/Y Oasis
Above decks Oasis is huge taking
into account she is 48 feet x 25 feet.
She is fitted with an aluminium fixed awning
for protection from the sun and the occasional tropical
shower. The uncluttered decks with wide walkways make her
a safe vessel for children.
One can also laze in the bow netting during
passages and sleep under the stars if wished.
Oasis spacious dining area seats ten plus in comfort around a
most impressive table constructed from light ash timber
with contrasting Western Red Cedar inlays over a balsa
core epoxy base.
Oasis interior is a blend of light ash
timbers with contrasting Western Red Cedar trims
complimented by soft gray fabric wall coverings and light
white embossed laminated panels.
Four en-suite cabins
All double cabins have their own shower facilities and
household size electric toilets. Oasis crew is
accommodated forward in their own private cabins.
Ventilation and comfort aboard are of primary
concern. Oasis has two fans in each double cabin with
two additional extractor fans for added airflow and
cooling. Oasis is insulated from outside temperature
and noise with two inches/ five centimetres of closed cell
polyurethane foam. Lighting aboard is a combination of low
wattage courtesy LED lights in white, amber and red with
low voltage power saver 12VDC lighting for the main
lighting. In general all systems aboard are run from a
eight panel bank of 12VDC solar panels giving some 600
watts of power.
The Galley
Oasis galley boasts a 5 burner SMEG gas
stove by the renowned Italian designer Renzo Piano.
Complimenting the stove is a SMEV Italian gas oven. The
galley is purposely designed to provide an adequate area
for meal preparation for up to 10 aboard. Two separate
refrigeration systems have been installed for adequate
storage so as to cater for long distance offshore
cruises.Oasis galley reflects the same practical
layout and decor as has been chosen for the rest of the
boat with the addition of stainless bench tops and
surrounds for added hygiene.
The Langkawi Regatta was Oasis first regatta having only
be re - launched a week before in Phuket.
The first 3 days of the event we spent
battling light wind conditions and getting used to the
boat with mixed results. On the 4th day with a little more
breeze to play with 12/15 knots she showed her true
ability gaining 2nd on Handicap and "line honours / first
over the line" in the "Racing Multihulls Division".
